LA PLATA, Md. (March 04, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On March 2 at 10:12 p.m., officers responded to Ell Lane in Waldorf for the report of a cutting. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, a 22 - year-old male, who reported he was behind a building in the 3600 block of Leonardtown Road when he was approached by a group of suspects who demanded money. The victim complied and then punched one of the suspects. The victim fled and later realized he had been cut. He was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for a non life-threatening injury. Officer R Garrett is investigating.
FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On February 28 at 11:45 a.m., officers working near the 100 block of Smallwood Drive in Waldorf were flagged down by a citizen who reported an altercation at the Dollar Plus Depot at 114 Smallwood Village Center. A preliminary investigation revealed two suspects were inside the business attempting to steal shoelaces when they were confronted by a store employee. The suspects assaulted the employee and fled when another employee tried to intervene. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries. Both suspects are black females with a heavy build. One suspect was wearing a black coat and pink scarf and the other was wearing a green jacket with a flowered scarf in her hair. Officer K. Gross is investigating.
MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF DRUGS: On February 26 at 9:48 p.m., a Charles County Sheriff's officer observed a drug transaction taking place near a car in the 8700 block of Riverside Road in Nanjemoy. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver failed to stop and fled to his residence about a mile away. Officers apprehended the driver and found marijuana inside the car. Brian Christopher Webb, 19, was charged with traffic violations and possession of marijuana. Officer J. Morales made the arrest.
WOMAN CHARGED WITH DUI, POSSESSION OF DRUGS AND ASSAULTING A POLICE OFFICER: On February 25 at 7:16 p.m., officers responded to Walgreens at 2970 Shasho place in Waldorf for the report of a disorderly person. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect, Jessica Louise Ahalt, 25, of Cheltenham, threatened to drive into a group of people who were standing nearby. The suspect fled the scene but was spotted a short distance away. Officers initiated a traffic stop and a computer check revealed her registration was expired. Officers also determined Ahalt was driving under the influence. She was arrested and transported to the Charles County Detention Center where she assaulted a correctional officer. Ahalt was charged with DUI, assault, and possession of drugs. Officer J. Thompson made the arrest.
