Three Arrested for Distribution of Illegal Prescription Medication


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 01, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division today released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Mary’s County.

ILLEGAL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION: Vice Narcotics detectives, assisted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, executed a search and seizure warrant on a Mechanicsville residence. The warrant was related to an investigation that has been ongoing for several months. Detectives located 430 Oxycontin and Oxycodone pills valued at $15,000, and over 100 Alprazolam pills and Amphetamine combined valued at more than $600.00. Almost $1,700 in cash was also recovered. Detectives were able to identify William Jordan, age 22, Abujuma Nader, age 42, and Heather Smith, age 27, as the distributors of the illegal prescription medication. They face additional charges after a case review with State's Attorney Richard D. Fritz.
