St. Mary's Schools Announce Adjustments to 2009-2010 Calendar


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 22, 2010) - The Board of Education of St. Mary's County approved adjustments to the 2009-2010 school year calendar to offset the instructional time lost due to inclement weather encountered in the third marking period.

The end date for the third marking period interims will now be Thursday, March 4, 2010 instead of Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 will now be a full day of school. Thursday, March 4, 2010 will be an early dismissal day. On March 4, 2010, morning session (AM) prekindergarten students will attend and there will be no school for afternoon session (PM) prekindergarten students. Interims will be distributed on Thursday, March 11, 2010.

The end of the third marking period will be Wednesday, April 14, 2010 instead of Friday, March 26, 2010. Friday, March 26, 2010 will now be a full day of school. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 will be an early dismissal day. On April 14, 2010, morning session (AM) prekindergarten students will attend and there will be no school for afternoon session (PM) prekindergarten students. Report cards will be distributed on Wednesday, April 21, 2010.

Other adjustments to the calendar may be necessary to meet state requirements or if additional school days are lost due to inclement weather and emergency situations.
