MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 22, 2010) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST AND FALSE NAME TO AVOID PROSECUTION: On Friday, February 12 at 1:03 am, Calverio Terrill Somerville, 21, of Leonardtown was arrested by Tpr. N. E. Gresko for Possession of Marijuana and giving a false name to avoid prosecution. Mr. Somerville was a passenger in a brown Buick Park Avenue when it was observed stopped at the intersection of Manon Way and Lucca Way in Lexington Park. Tpr. Gresko made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and a strong odor of Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Somerville initially gave a false name to avoid arrest for an open warrant through the St. Mary's County Sheriff Office. He was found to be in possession of two small baggies of Marijuana. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody. Mr. Somerville was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, February 12 at 10:38 am, Keith Anthony Young, 43, of Lexington Park, was arrested by TFC C. M. Evans for Possession of Cocaine and Marijuana. Mr. Young was operating a green Ford Explorer on Point Lookout Road when he was stopped at Lawrence Avenue in Leonardtown for an equipment violation. Mr. Young was found to be in possession of two small baggies of Marijuana and Cocaine. Mr. Young was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

RESISTING ARREST: On Saturday, February 13 at 2:26 am, Shelita Antoinette Battle, 34, of Bushwood, was arrested by Tpr. E. J. Page for Resisting Arrest and Assault on a Police Officer. Ms. Battle was operating a silver Jeep Liberty on Three Notch Road when she stopped north of Millstone Landing Road in California for exceeding the posted speed limit. She was subsequently arrested for DWI/DUI. Ms. Battle was uncooperative during the traffic stop and while being placed in Tpr. Page's vehicle, Ms. Battle assaulted Tpr. Page. She was then taken to the Leonardtown Barracks for processing of the DWI/DUI. She was then transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER $1,000: On Saturday, February 13 at 11:31 am, Tpr. M. J. Pitcher responded to the 45000 block of Graves Road in Hollywood for the reported Theft from Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 54, of Hollywood, who advised between 12:00 pm on February 9 and 12:00 pm on February 12 unknown suspect(s) gained entry in her silver Honda Civic and stole a 12 volt Power Buss valued at $16.00, carton of cigarettes valued at $65.00, Garmin GXM-30 XM Radio valued at $245.00, Garmin GPS Model 2730 valued at $350.00 and various audio cables valued at $10.00. Total loss estimated to be $686.00 and the investigation is ongoing.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, February 14 at 2:34 am, Jonas Robert Heinonen, 19, of Great Mills, and Christopher John Scalsky, 20, of Mechanicsville, were arrested by Tpr. E. J. Page for Possession of Marijuana. Tpr. Page made contact with the occupants of the silver Acura Integra and advised the operator, Mr. Heinonen, he was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. While talking with both occupants an odor of fresh Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Heinonen was found to be in possession of a small baggie of Marijuana and a multicolored CDS smoking device containing Marijuana. Mr. Scalsky was found to be in possession of prescription medications not prescribed to him. Both subjects were taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where they were held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
