LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 27, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
ATTEMPT STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On January 25 at 7:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Bannister Circle for the report of an attempt robbery. Investigation revealed the victim, 17, was riding his bicycle when the suspects approached, knocked him to the ground and attempted to steal his cell phone. The victim resisted and the suspects fled. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. The victim was treated for minor injuries. Officer K. Syvertsen is investigating.
SECOND-DEGREE ASSAULT: On January 23 at 7 p.m., officers responded to St. Charles Town Center on Mall Circle for the report of an altercation in progress. Upon arrival, officers located several groups of juveniles fighting. Officers stopped the fights, arrested two teens and detained an 18-year-old male. A security guard was treated for an injury she sustained while trying to assist with dispersing the suspects. Additional charges are pending further investigation. Officer R. Johnson is continuing the investigating.
MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE DRUGS AND RESISTING ARREST: On January 24, a Charles County Sheriff's officer initiated a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Chicamuxen Road in Indian Head after observing a traffic violation. A computer check revealed the driver, Marvin Orlando Snow, 36, of Nanjemoy, was operating the car with a suspended license. In addition, officers found Snow to be in possession of approximately $2500 of crack cocaine. Snow attempted to run from the officer but was apprehended. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute and driving with a suspended license. Officer S. Davis made the arrest.
ASSAULT AND BARRICADE: On January 23 at 8:10 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Stone Avenue in Waldorf for the report of a domestic-related assault. Upon arrival, officers were told the suspect, a 32-year-old male, had access to multiple firearms and was threatening the occupants of the house. Further, the suspect refused to surrender and threatened to injure anyone who intervened. Based on this information, the Charles County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team and Hostage Negotiators responded. The suspect eventually surrendered without incident. Charges are pending. Officer M. Smith is investigating.
THEFT: On January 23 at 11:30 a.m., officers responded to the 13000 block of Budds Creek Road in Charlotte Hall for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed between January 16 - January 23, unknown suspects siphoned oil from the oil tank. Officer B. Virts is investigating.
SHERIFF'S OFFICERS IDENTIFY AND ARREST SUSPECTS IN BURGLARY: On January 22 at 7 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers arrested Michael Scott Lewis, 27, of Brandywine and Mika Ann Lacy, 43, of White Plains in connection with a burglary that occurred earlier that morning at the Surgical Center located at 11340 Pembrooke Square. Investigation by Officer M. Smith revealed the suspects broke into the office and stole prescription pads, medical supplies, money and candy. A witness - who observed the suspects fleeing the office - provided police with their descriptions. Based on the information, Officer Smith checked a nearby hotel and located the suspects who were in possession of the stolen property. Lewis and Lacy were charged with second-degree burglary and remanded to the Charles County Detention Center.
SPA EMPLOYEES CHARGED WITH PROSTITUTION: On January 20 at 1 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's detectives arrested
[REDACTED; court granted expungement of records on 13-NOV-2015], and Kyong Hwa Nguyen, 52, both of Waldorf, in connection with prostitution at the Hot Sun Spa located at 2796 Crain Highway. Detectives initiated an investigation after receiving complaints about alleged prostitution at the spa. A search warrant was executed and officers recovered evidence linking the employees to prostitution-related offenses. Sheriff Rex W. Coffey said the closure of this spa marks the last known spa operating in this manner in Charles County. Members of the Narcotics Enforcement Section investigated.
STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On January 16 at 9:28 p.m., officers responded to the area of Strauss Avenue and Shelton Court in Indian Head for the report of a robbery. Investigation revealed the victim was riding his skateboard when the suspects approached, knocked him to the ground and attempted to steal his MP3 player. The victim fled and called police, providing officers with a description. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Detectives are working on several leads.
