LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 20, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BANK ROBBERY: On January 19 at 11:06 a.m., officers responded to the M&T Bank at 11175 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. Investigation revealed the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, implied he had a weapon and demanded money. The teller complied and the suspect fled toward Smallwood Drive. No one was injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 6'0", wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans and a cap. Detective J. Elliott is investigating.

SHERIFF'S OFFICERS CHARGE MEN WITH DRUG DISTRIBUTION: On January 18 at 3:51 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers initiated a traffic stop near St. Mary's Avenue and Glen Albin Road in La Plata after observing a traffic violation. Officers discovered the driver, Brian Keith Whitaker, 20, of Washington, D.C. and a passenger, James Lyndon Barnes, 20, of La Plata, were in possession of 28 baggies of marijuana. Both suspects were charged with possession with intent to distribute. Officer W. Mayhew made the arrest.

BURGLARY: On January 18 at 8:40 p.m., officers responded to the Smallwood Office Building in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed unknown suspects pried open the door to one of the suites but it is unclear at this point if anything was stolen. Officer K. Gross is investigating.

ROBBERY: On January 17 at 7:50 p.m., officers responded to St. Patrick's Drive and Lancaster Circle in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. Investigation revealed the victim was approached by several males who pushed him to the ground, assaulted him, stole his wallet and fled. A passerby observed the victim lying on the ground and stopped to render aid. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. PFC J. Long is investigating.

BURGLARY: On January 14 between 2:30 p.m. - 7:50 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 2800 block of Chippewa Street in Bryans Road and stole electronics, money and jewelry. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Officer R. Gilroy is investigating.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY: On January 14 at 7:32 p.m., officers responded to South Hampton Drive and Weston Drive in Bryans Road for the report of a robbery. Investigation revealed unknown suspects approached the victim, a 52-year-old male, displayed a handgun and tried to steal his laptop and wallet. The victim refused to comply and ran toward a nearby house. The suspects fled on foot. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Investigators are working on leads. Detective Tona is investigating.

BURGLARY: On January 14 between 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 6500 block of Laurel Court in Bryans Road and stole four long guns. The scene was processed for evidence. Officer O'Shields is investigating.
