Indian Head Man Sentenced to 12+ Years for Drug, Gun Offenses

GREENBELT (Jan. 20, 2010) - U.S. District Judge Roger W. Titus sentenced Marcus Lorenzo Proctor, age 27, of Indian Head, on Thursday, Jan. 14, to 151 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute crack and marijuana, and for being a felon in possession of a gun.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Theresa R. Stoop of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; Chief Roberto L. Hylton of the Prince George’s County Police Department; Charles County Sheriff Rex Coffey and Charles County State’s Attorney Leonard C. Collins, Jr.

According to Proctor’s plea agreement, when law enforcement officers entered Proctor’s residence to execute a search warrant, they observed Proctor attempting to flush 155 grams of cocaine base, commonly known as crack, down a toilet. Law enforcement officers also seized an additional 22 grams of crack; 28 grams of marijuana packaged in 32 baggies; a digital scale; and a.38 caliber revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition, as well as a box of .38 ammunition. Proctor had previously been convicted of a felony crime and was thus prohibited from possessing the gun.

Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mara B. Zusman and James A. Crowell IV, who prosecuted the case.
