LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 12, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
CITIZEN ROBBERY: On January 11 at 9:32 p.m., officers responded to the 4100 block of Lancaster Circle in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. Investigation revealed the victim was in his driveway removing items from his vehicle when he was approached by two masked suspects who displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspects fled. Officer L. Blake is investigating.
BURGLARY: On January 11 at 2:30 p.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of Drake Court in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed between 9 a.m. - 2: 30 p.m., unknown suspects broke into the house and stole game systems. The scene was processed for evidence. Officer J. Feldman is investigating.
OFFICERS ARREST MAN IN STOLEN CAR: On January 10 at 11:34 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers initiated a traffic stop on a Volvo near the intersection of Crain Highway and Cedarville Road in Waldorf. A check of the car's registration revealed the car had been stolen from Baltimore. The driver fled, ramming a police car. Officers performed a PIT maneuver, causing the driver, Aaron Eugene Monroe, 19, of Washington, DC to stop. Monroe was arrested and charged with theft and numerous traffic violations. PFC. A. St. Germain made the arrest.
SECOND-DEGREE BURGLARY: On January 9 at 4:32 p.m., officers responded to the 9500 block of Lomax Drive in Faulkner for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect broke into a garage and stole two dirt bikes. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Officer K. Syvertsen is investigating.
BURGLARY: On January 10, unknown suspects broke into Mama Mia's restaurant at 12526 Mattawoman Drive in Waldorf and stole a cash register. Officers processed the scene for evidence. Pfc. R. Bagley is investigating.
OFFICERS INTERRUPT BURGLARY: On January 10 at 1:49 a.m., a Charles County Sheriff's officer was patrolling the 2000 block of Smallwood Drive near St. Patrick's Drive in Waldorf when she heard a car alarm sounding. The officer found a van with its alarm activated parked behind the KinderCare. A further check revealed the glass to the door at KinderCare had been broken out. A police K-9 was called to check the building but no one was inside. Based on evidence, it appeared the officer interrupted a burglary and the suspect fled when the car alarm activated. PFC R. ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On January 8 at 9:18 p.m., an unknown suspect entered Simpsons Store at 8350 Oliver Shop Road in La Plata and handed an employee a note demanding money. The victim initially thought the note was a joke and refused to comply. The suspect then displayed a handgun at which point the victim activated an alarm. The suspect, described as a white male, about 5'8" - 5'10", fled the store without obtaining money. PFC J. Kelly is investigating.
