LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 14, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.
THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: On Friday, May 8, 2009 at 9:00 pm, Tpr. J. Gibson responded to the 21000 block of Spyglass Way in Lexington Park for the reported theft of motor vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 38, of Lexington Park. He advised he loaned his vehicle, a silver 2005 Nissan 350Z, Md. Registration to Maricris Argueza Shaw, 35, of Leonardtown on March 1, 2009. Ms. Shaw has failed to return the vehicle. Ms. Shaw is being charged with Unlawful Taking of Motor Vehicle. An arrest warrant is currently on file for Ms. Shaw on unrelated charges: Forgery and passing numerous Bad Checks in the amount of $8,400.00. Another Arrest Warrant is on file Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle; a silver 2002 Honda S2000 convertible, New York registration DZT4346. Value of the vehicle is $8,000.00. Ms. Shaw has since been apprehended in Tavares, Lake County, Florida where she incarcerated in the Lake County Detention Center and is awaiting return back to St. Mary's County.
THEFT UNDER $100: On Monday, May 11, 2009 at 10:48 am, a 911 Broadcast was made reporting a theft in progress at the Family Dollar store in the 40000 block of Merchants Lane in Leonardtown. While responding to the scene, the 911 Center advised the suspect was leaving in a silver 2001 Cadillac. Tpr. M. Pitcher observed the vehicle at the intersection of Point Lookout Road and Hollywood Road in Leonardtown and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect, Sherman Barry Gross, 57, of Lusby was taken into custody and positively identified by the male employee. Mr. Gross attempted to steal two items from the store totaling $13.70. Mr. Gross was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged according and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
