MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 4, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST, DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE: On Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 12:22 pm, Corey Antwain Adams, 19, of Clements was arrested by Tpr. G. Thompson for possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia and driving while suspended. Mr. Adams was operating a gray Cadillac STS on Budds Creek Road in Chaptico when he was stopped at Village Liquors for failing to drive in a single lane. Tpr. Thompson made contact with Mr. Adams and an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. Mr. Adams was found to be in possession of a clear baggie of marijuana and a lime green cigar tube containing a partially burnt marijuana cigar. A routine MVA check revealed Mr. Adams was also operating on a suspended license and he was cited for same. Mr. Adams was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY TO MOTOR VEHICLES: On Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 10:15 am, Tpr. N. Gresko responded to the 44000 block of Airport View Drive in Hollywood for the reported malicious destruction of property to two vehicles. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 21, of Hollywood. He advised the left front window on a white 2005 Toyota Tacoma truck was broken out and nothing was stolen from the Toyota. The passenger side window was broken out on a 1993 gray Eagle Talon 2 door sedan. The damage to the vehicles occurred between Wednesday, April 29th at 3:30 pm and Thursday, April 30th at 9:00 am. Estimated damage was $100.00 on the Eagle Talon and $200.00 on the Toyota Tacoma. The investigation is ongoing.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 12:51 pm, Terry Alexander Tucker, 32, of Port Republic was arrested by Tpr. G. Thompson on an outstanding Circuit Court Warrant (T3-13183) for Failing to Appear in Circuit Court on December 2, 2007. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Tucker was apprehended in Calvert County and transferred to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, May 1, 2009 at 1:20 pm, Michael Phillip Gianino, 51, of Leonardtown was arrested by TFC M. Adams on an Arrest Warrant (T3-13926) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on April 30, 2009. The original charges were Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle and Failing to Stop at the Scene of an Accident. Mr. Gianino was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, May 1, 2009 at 3:45 pm, Christopher Jordan Hobbs, 19, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC J. Fleetwood on an Arrest Warrant (T3-13927) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on April 30, 2009. The original charges were Theft under $100.00 and Theft Scheme under $500.00. A second Arrest Warrant (T3-13928) issued by the District Court in Prince Frederick on March 25, 2009 was also served. The charges on this warrant were Theft under $100.00, Theft of a Credit Card and Using another person's Credit Card over $500.00. Mr. Hobbs was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, May 1, 2009 at 4:54 pm, James Leroy Dorsey, 25, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. G. Thompson for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Dorsey was a passenger in a gray Toyota Scion when they were stopped on Hollywood Road, in the area of Weatherby Drive in Hollywood for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the driver and an odor of Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Dorsey, a passenger was found to be in possession of four baggies of marijuana on his person. Mr. Dorsey was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

CHILD ABDUCTION, BURGLARY, 1ST DEGREE ASSAULT AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On Friday, May 1, 2009 at 5:46 pm, Tpr. M. Pitcher responded to the 45000 block of Heather Street in Great Mills for the reported Disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 19, of Leonardtown who advised Diane Lee King-Guy, 53, of Callaway abducted her 2 year old granddaughter while she was in the care of the complainant. Ms. King-Guy entered the residence without permission and took her granddaughter by knife point and left the residence. Ms. King-Guy drove from the residence and returned moments later. Tpr. Pitcher placed Ms. King-Guy under arrest for the following charges: Abduct Child under 12 years old, Burglary 3rd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, False Imprisonment and Reckless Endangerment. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she is being held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Saturday, May 2, at 4:00 pm, Tpr. W. Jefferson responded to the Burger King in the 30000 block of Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall for the reported assault. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, who advised he observed two juvenile males, one 15, of Hollywood and the other male juvenile, 16, of Edgewater each pointing BB handguns at passing motorists and buildings in the area. Both juveniles were taken into custody, transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where they were processed and charged with 2nd Degree Assault. They were released to their parent/guardian pending further action by Juvenile Services.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:35 pm, James Edward Norris, 20, of Coltons Point was arrested by Cpl. J. Linger for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Norris was operating a green Chevrolet S-10 on Three Notch Road when he was stopped at North Sandgates Road, in Mechanicsville for an equipment violation. Upon contact with the driver, Mr. Norris, Marijuana was observed in plain view on Mr. Norris' shirt. Mr. Norris was also in possession of a metal CDS smoking device and a cigar tube containing 18 marijuana seeds. Mr. Norris was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 12:08 am, Shannon Starr Gatton, 23, of Hollywood was arrested by Tpr. M. Moore for Assault 2nd Degree. TFC Moore responded to the 24000 block of Ruff Ruff Lane in Hollywood for the reported disturbance. Upon arrival, contact was made with the complainant, 24, of Hollywood. She advised Shannon Starr Gatton was intoxicated and began to argue with the female victim, 23, of Hollywood. He later assaulted her by throwing her on the deck. He was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 8:11 am, Zehra Senel Oztas, 22, of Crofton was arrested by Tpr. N. Gresko for possession of marijuana. Tpr. Gresko initiated a traffic stop at North Shangri La Drive on Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park for an equipment violation. While speaking with Ms. Oztas and a male passenger, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. Ms. Oztas was found to be in possession of a clear plastic baggie of marijuana. She was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICES: On Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 6:40 pm, Karen Nicole Smith, 37, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. M. Pitcher. The following warrants were served on her at the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she is being held pending her court appearance:

-- Bench Warrant issued by the Circuit Court in Leonardtown on December 2, 2008. The original charge was Failing to Appear for Traffic Charges. (T3-13730)

-- Arrest Warrant issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on January 12, 2009. The original charges were Bad Check under $500.00, Bad Check over $500.00, Theft under $500.00, Theft over $500.00 and Theft Scheme over $500.00. (T3-13786)

-- Arrest Warrant issued by the District Court in Prince Frederick on January 7, 2009. The charges were two counts of Forgery of Private Documents, one count each of Theft under $100.00 and Theft over $500.00. (T3-13929)

-- Arrest Warrant issued by the District Court in Prince Frederick on February 24, 2009 with two counts of Theft under $100.00 was served on Ms. Smith. She was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (T3-13930)

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 8:45 pm, Steven R. Jerome, 22, of Leonardtown was arrested by Tpr. W. Jefferson on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13914) for Failing to pay a Deferred Payment of $250.00 to the District Court in Leonardtown by July 16, 2006. Mr. Jerome was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
