MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (April 30, 2009) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT: On April 21, 2009 at 12:21 p.m., Trooper First Class Dawson received a report for an alleged theft from the 4100 block of 7th Street in North Beach. The victim reported that Suzette L. Hawkins, 60, had stolen items from her residence. Ms. Hawkins was served with a Criminal Summons charging her with theft.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: On April 23, 2009 at 11:05 a.m., Trooper First Class Dawson responded to the 11700 block of Journey Drive in Owings, for a report of a vehicle theft. The victim's vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of the residence. The vehicle, 1999 Gray Nissan Sentra, was unsecured with the keys in the ignition. Investigation revealed that several neighbors had also had vehicles broken into and electronic items removed. POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 24, 2009 at 11:35 a.m., Trooper Donaldson stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Chaneyville Road. A passenger in the vehicle, a juvenile, 17, was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Maryland State Police Barrack in Prince Frederick for processing.

1ST DEGREE BURGLARY: On April 24, 2009 at 3:07 p.m., Trooper Saucerman was dispatched to the 4000 block of Songbird Lane, Broomes Island, in response to a burglary. The victim advised that when returning home from work, his front door was ajar and had a dent near the door handle. Unknown suspect(s) had removed several electronic items throughout the residence. Possession of Cocaine: On April 24, 2009 at 6:05 p.m., Trooper Donaldson stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Rt. 260 at St. Andrews Drive in Owings. Trooper Donaldson observed three plastic baggies containing cocaine on the floor board. Brian K. Casper, 42 of Lothian, was placed under arrest and was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE, DUI: On April 25, 2009 at 2:43 a.m., Corporal White stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on 2nd St. near Erie Ave. in North Beach. The driver, James L. Thomas, Jr., 42 of Waldorf, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. A search revealed cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

ASSAULT: On April 25, 2009 at 7:30 p.m., Trooper First Class Dawson responded to the North Beach Boardwalk in the area of Bay Avenue and 3rd St., for a reported assault. The victim advised she and her friends were on the boardwalk, when they were approached by Michael R. Rinehart, 19, of Owings. The victim and Mr. Rinehart got into an argument which resulted in physical injury to the victim. A warrant charging Mr. Rinehart with second degree assault has been requested.

THEFT: On April 27, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. Trooper Lewis responded to the McDonald's in Dunkirk for a reported theft. The victim advised his car window had been broken and his glove box was opened and cash removed. Anyone with information about this crime should contact the Maryland State Police at 410-535-1400.

THEFT OF BOBCAT: On April 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., Trooper First Class Murphy responded to a reported theft of a Bobcat Skid Loader. Unknown suspect(s) removed the 1993 753 Bobcat from the construction site south of 150 Solomons Island Road, Prince Frederick. Anyone with any information should to contact the Maryland State Police at 410-535-1400.
