WALDORF, Md. (April 24, 2009) The Arbys Charity Tour, a national charitable golf tour, will travel to the tri-county area on Tuesday, May 5 to help raise awareness and funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maryland. The event will be held at the Potomac Ridge Golf Course in Waldorf. Arbys Franchisee, Wade Kingsley of KBK, Inc. is hosting the event.
The Arbys Charity Tour consists of a round of golf followed by a reception and an awards and check presentation. More than 100 golfers will hit the links for a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start.
Weve always felt it was important to make a difference in the communities that Arbys serves, Greg Hawkins, Chairman of the Arbys Charity Tour, said. Last year we raised more than $2.4 million to help Big Brothers Big Sisters and other youth mentoring organizations change the lives of children. This year were aiming even higher.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maryland is thrilled to be able to partner with the Arbys Charity Tour again this year, Robin Tomechko, President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters, said. The proceeds from this event will help us to continue to bring our life-changing mission and services to additional Southern Maryland youth; helping them grow up to become more confident, competent, and caring young adults.
The Arbys Charity Tour bus and Arbys Foundation community events staff will travel around the Southern Maryland community hosting a series of community events, including recruiting drives for Big Brothers Big Sisters, sponsorship appreciation lunches, a picnic for one-on-one matches and Values Lessons at local schools.
Since 2003, the Arbys Charity Tour Maryland has generated more than $450,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maryland.
