LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 23, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.
BOMB THREAT: On April 22, 2009 at 6:05 p.m., an employee of the Pizza Hut, located in Lexington Park, received a telephone call advising a bomb had been placed inside the establishment. The Pizza Hut and surrounding businesses were evacuated and a K-9 search of the business was conducted. No explosive devices were located. Two suspects have been identified and the investigation is continuing by detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 22, 2009 at 11:13 p.m., Deputy M. Campbell observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Breton Bay Golf Course in Leonardtown. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Campbell detected a strong odor of suspected marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The vehicle operator, James M. Bell, age 23, of Hollywood was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Bell was arrested without incident, charged with Possession of Marijuana and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
BORDER TO BORDER DWI SATURATION PATROLS: In an ongoing effort to get drunk drivers off the roadways the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack and the Calvert County Sheriff's Office conducted a border to border driving while intoxicated saturation patrols from April 17 through April 19. Statistics for the patrols include:

-- Total Speeding Citations: 6
-- Total Other Citations: 2
-- Total Criminal Arrests: 2
-- Total Warrant Arrests: 2
DWI SATURATION PATROL: On April 10 between the hours of 11:00 pm and 3:00 am deputies conducted a Traffic Safety Driving under the Influence saturation patrol in the Mechanicsville and Charlotte Hall Area of St. Mary's County. During the operation 6 citations and 9 warnings were issued for speeding, 2 warnings were issued for seatbelt violations, and 2 warnings were issued for other traffic related violations.
