St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 16, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On April 15, 2009 Deputy S Ruest stopped a 2002 Hyundai Elantra driven by Glenn Garrett Gibson, 19, of Charlotte Hall, for a motor vehicle traffic violation. As the Deputy was speaking to Gibson, he detected an odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search revealed a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. Gibson was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

THEFT UNDER $500: On April 15, 2009 the St. Mary's County Emergency Communications Center broadcast a lookout for a male wanted for a theft which had just occurred at the Kmart in California. The subject was located a few stores down from the Kmart in the same shopping center. The subject was identified as Joseph Dale Thomas, 50, of Lexington Park. Investigation revealed Thomas removed a 19-inch Sony LCD television from the display, placed it in a bag and walked past all points of check out without paying for the television.
