Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (April 9, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BRUSH FIRES SET: On April 9 at 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the report of three small fires in Waldorf. The first fire was located near a footpath in the 5400 block of Tilapia Court in Waldorf. A second fire - in which someone lit a bag of leaves on fire - was set in the street in the 5500 block of Moonfish Court and a third fire was set near Lancaster Lake. All three fires were minor and caused no damage. Officer S. Weedon is investigating.

RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: On April 9 at 12:17 a.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of Drake Court in Waldorf for the report of a disturbance. Investigation revealed a male resident answered a knock at the door and was confronted by a female who asked if a female resident was at home. The male shut the door and the female resident stayed inside. Moments later, someone fired shots at the house, striking a window. No one was injured. The occupants provided little information other than the shooting may have been the result of a prior dispute between the suspects and residents. Officer R. Johnson is investigating.
