St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (April 2, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ARREST IN VEHICLE THEFTS: The St. Mary's County BCI investigation into the March 30 vehicle pursuit and apprehension of a 17 year-old juvenile in a stolen vehicle in Lexington Park resulted in the arrest of an additional 17 year-old male from Lexington Park. Detectives charged the teen with 2 counts of motor vehicle theft, 2 counts of theft over $500, and theft scheme over $500, for thefts occurring in Lexington Park. He was transported a juvenile detention facility. In addition, the juvenile vehicle operator was charged with an additional motor vehicle theft, 2 counts of theft over $500, and theft scheme over $500. The investigation continues into additional thefts in the area.

VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER: On April 1 Corporal D. Corcoran was patrolling the intersection of North Essex Drive and Saratoga Drive in Lexington Park when he observed Mark Jerome Mason, 47, of Leonardtown, driving a van. Cpl. Corcoran knew Mason's driver's license was suspended and there was an active protective order between Mason and the woman who was riding along in the van as Mason's passenger. Cpl. Corcoran verified Mason's driver's license was suspended and the protective order was still in effect. Mason was stopped. The passenger was identified as the petitioner of the protective order. Mason was arrested for violating the order.
