MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (March 24, 2009) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On March 22 at approximately 0154 hours, TFC S. Murphy was patrolling southbound U.S. Route 301 at Plaza Drive when he observed a Plymouth Voyager without any head lamps or tail lamps on. TFC Murphy stopped the vehicle; made contact with the driver Justin Jerome Seldon, 20 years of Suitland, and smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Seldon was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and carry and knowingly transport a handgun in a vehicle upon the public roads.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On March 24 at approximately 0035 hours, Trooper B. Sorenson was patrolling Smallwood West at St. Stevens Drive when he observed a Hyundai Elantra with non operational tag lights. Trooper Sorenson stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Ray Raymond Williams, 31 years, of Waldorf, when he smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana. Williams was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
