Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (March 19, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

TEEN CHARGED WITH ROBBERY AND ASSAULT: On March 18 at 9:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the 10000 block of Berry Road in Waldorf for the report of a robbery and assault. Investigation revealed the victim was standing outside the Burchmart store when three teenaged males approached. One of the teens asked the victim for money to pay for his bus fare. When the victim handed the suspect a dollar, the suspect grabbed the victim's wallet and punched the victim in the face. The victim struggled with the suspect and managed to get his wallet back. The suspect and his friends fled. Officers canvassed the area and developed information about the identity of one of the subjects. The suspect was located a short time later at a home in a nearby neighborhood. The victim positively identified the suspect as being the person responsible for the robbery and assault. The suspect, a 17 -year-old from Waldorf, was arrested and charged with robbery, second-degree assault, and theft. Officer C. Barrows made the arrest.

MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE: On March 18 at 9:26 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Fairbanks Court in Waldorf for the report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers encountered a male subject who dropped a vial of liquid PCP from his jacket. The suspect, Derrick Jay Ford, 33, of Temple Hills, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer T. Hemsley made the arrest.
