MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (March 16, 2009)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

UNRULY CHILD ON SCHOOL BUS: On Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 2:54 pm, Tpr. J. Gibson responded to the area of Three Notch Road and New Market Village Road in Mechanicsville for an out of control juvenile on a school bus. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female school bus driver, 43, of Mechanicsville who advised a juvenile male student, 13, of Mechanicsville was out of control on the school bus. The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack where he continued to be very belligerent and uncooperative. He was processed and charged with Assault 2nd Degree and later released to his father pending further action by Juvenile Services.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On Friday, March 13, 2009 at 9:47 pm, Ashley Nicol Dean, 19, of Park Hall was arrested by Cpl. J. Linger for Possession of Marijuana and CDS Paraphernalia. Ms. Dean was operating a maroon Dodge Stratus south bound Three Notch Road, in the area of North Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park when she was stopped for an equipment violation. A cellophane bag of Marijuana was observed in plain view for which she was arrested. Ms. Dean was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. Ms. Dean was issued a Safety Equipment Repair Order for the inoperable tag light.

DUI, POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:13 am, Jaime Marie Stroud, 25, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for DUI and Possession of Cocaine and CDS Paraphernalia. Ms. Stroud was operating a black Ford Expedition on south bound Three Notch Road, south of Lockes Hill Road in Mechanicsville when she was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with Ms. Stroud, a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from her breath for which she was subsequently arrested. A search incident to the arrest revealed a silver metal Zippo case with Cocaine. Ms. Stroud was taken to the Leonardtown Barrack where she was processed for the DUI and later transported to the St Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DUI SATURATION PATROL: From 7:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2009 to 3:00 am on Saturday, March 14, 2009, a total of 12 troopers participated in a DUI Saturation Patrol. The patrol was concentrated in 3 particular areas where statistical data shows a larger volume of alcohol related collisions. The aggressive patrol effort resulted in the apprehension of eight intoxicated drivers. In addition, two arrests were made for CDS violations, one arrest was made for outstanding warrants, and one arrest for driving while suspended. Troopers also responded to six 911 simulcasts which resulted in an additional investigation for theft. Total traffic stop numbers could not be accurately totaled at the time of this writing.
