PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Feb. 26, 2009) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident report.
PIT BULL ATTACKS: On February 25 at approximately 08:55 a.m. the owner of 3 Pit-Bull type breed dogs reported that they had gotten out of the residence in the 300 block of Pilot Way in Lusby. A citizen in the neighborhood was bitten by one of the dogs, a blue and white Pit-Bull. Two of the three dogs then went to Lake Drive where the blue and white Pit-Bull bit another citizen. Both citizens were treated for their injuries by volunteers from the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and released on the scene. After about an hour of searching by numerous animal control officers, deputy sheriffs and a State trooper, all 3 dogs were able to be secured without further incident. The blue and white Pit-Bull was signed over and taken to the Tri-County Animal Shelter to be held for a 10-day quarantine that is required whenever a human is bitten. The other 2 dogs were removed from the property and will also be held at the shelter. This case is still under investigation and citations are pending for the dogs' owner.
