St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 25, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On February 24, Deputy J. Vezzosi responded to Chopticon High School for a report of a controlled dangerous substance violation. School staff found Scott Dillon Fritts, 18, of Mechanicsville, to be in possession of suspected marijuana while at school and contacted the sheriff's office. Deputy Vezzosi placed Mr. Fritts under arrest and charged him with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, suspected marijuana.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE: On February 24, the St. Mary's County Emergency Communication Center broadcast a description of a suspicious person looking into parked vehicles in the shopping center parking lot off of Worth Avenue in California. Deputies responded and located a man matching the description in front of the Ross department store. Deputies identified the man as John Frederick Miller, 44, of California. As Corporal Safford was completing a field interview report, he observed Mr. Miller throw a brown paper bag in a trash can. The bag made a loud metallic bang when it landed in the bottom of the can. Corporal Safford retrieved the brown paper bag and looked inside the bag. Inside the bag was three small controlled dangerous substance smoking devices containing suspected cocaine residue. John Miller was arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
