LA PLATA, Md. (Feb. 25, 2009) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.
UNUSUAL TRAFFIC STOP: On February 12, 2009, at approximately 0057 hours Tpr. A. Watson was on routine patrol traveling northbound on Md. Route 205, north of Popular Hill when he observed a silver Honda cross over the lane divider on separate occasions. Tpr. Watson stopped the vehicle, and as he approached the car the front and rear passengers exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Tpr. Watson pursued the passengers with negative results. Tpr. Watson then made contact with the driver, Ellen Jane Clifton, 21, of Waldorf. She received several citations for traffic violations and was released at the scene. A short time later the Charles County Sheriffs Office contacted the Maryland State Police that they had a suspect who matched the description in custody. Tpr. Watson identified the suspect as Kenyon Stansberry Thomas, 18, of Owings. Tpr. Watson also identified the driver, who was with the suspect from his previous stop to be Clifton. Clifton received additional charges of false statement to police; obstruction and hindering.
DUI, MARIJUANA: On February 14, 2009 at approximately 0337 hours, TFC S. Murphy was patrolling southbound U.S. Route 301, north of St. Patricks Drive when he observed a blue Hyundai with no headlights or taillights on. TFC Murphy made contact with the driver, Sherrod Dawayne Robinson, 26, of Washington, D.C. Upon contact with the driver, TFC Murphy smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Robinson was arrested for DUI. He was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
