MSP Reports for Charles County


LA PLATA, Md. (Feb. 12, 2009) - The La Plata Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 4, 2009, at approximately 1104 hours Trooper M. Bonczewski was on routine patrol on northbound Route 925, north of Route 5 when he stopped Damon Samuel Harrison, 43, of Mitchellville, for not wearing a seat belt. Upon contact with the driver, Damon Harrison, Trooper Bonczewski smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Harrison. Harrison was arrested for driving under the influence. His passenger Tonya M. Warren, 44, of Waldorf, was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 7, 2009, at approximately 2357 hours TFC J. Wilson was on routine patrol northbound Crain Highway, north of Billingsley Road when he stopped Damon Samuel Harrison, 43, of Mitchellville, for weaving in the roadway. Upon contact with Harrison, TFC Wilson smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Harrison. Harrison was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

DUI, LOADED SHOTGUN: On February 7, 2009, at approximately 0120 hours, Tpr. M. Bonczewski was on routine patrol on northbound U.S. Route 301, north of Glen Albin road when he stopped James Anthony Moorman, 24, of Hughesville, for crossing the divided lane line. Upon contact with the driver, Tpr. Bonczewski smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Moorman. Moorman was charged with driving under the influence and unlawfully possess in an automobile a loaded shotgun and ammunition (12 gauge Moss Burg Shotgun).

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On February 8, 2009, at approximately 1730 hours, Tpr. D. Ellington and Tpr. Bonczewski were conducting stationary laser speed enforcement when they stopped Derrick Levar Holton, 29, of Brandywine, and his passengers Raymond Louis Holt III, 26, of Suitland, and Lawrence Augustus Grant Jr., 31, of Waldorf, for speeding. Upon contact with the driver Tpr. Bonczewski smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Officer I M. DePaulo, of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, arrived on the scene to assist. All 3 occupants were charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On February 9, 2009, at approximately 0025 hours, Tpr. W. Posey was traveling northbound on U. S. Route 301, south of Mattawomen Beantown Road when he stopped Lawrence Edward Herbert Jr., 27, of Temple Hills, for dark window tint. Upon contact with Herbert, Tpr. Posey smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle. Herbert was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
