MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Feb. 12, 2009) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

COUNTERFEITING: On February 3, 2009 at 7:40 pm, Trooper First Class Dawson responded to the Shell gas station in Lusby for a report of counterfeit money being used. An employee at the gas station advised that the suspect attempted to purchase gas and other items with a counterfeit twenty dollar bill. The suspect is described as a white male approximately 18-20 years old driving a maroon car. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410)535-1400.

BURGLARY, THEFT: On February 4, 2009 at 7:50 p.m., Trooper First Class Dawson responded to the 6300 block of 15th St., Chesapeake Beach for a reported burglary. A garage was forced open and a motorcycle was stolen. The motorcycle is described as a "mini-bike" red and white with a black seat. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410)535-1400.

TRESPASSING: On February 5, 2009 at 5:45 p.m., Trooper First Class Merkelson responded to the 6300 block of 19th St., Chesapeake Beach for a trespassing complaint. The complainant advised that her ex-boyfriend, Blake C. Cooper, 35, of Saint Leonard, had come to her residence and was refusing to leave. Cooper refused to leave and was arrested for trespassing. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On February 6, 2009 at 2:05 p.m., Trooper Hunt stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Route 4 at Stoakley Road in Prince Frederick. After a K9 dog alerted troopers of the presence of drugs, a search was conducted. The search revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia under the passenger seat. James N. Brady, 18, of Prince Frederick, was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On February 6, 2009 at 9:40 p.m., Corporal White stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Route 261 at Mears Avenue in Chesapeake Beach. An odor of marijuana was detected and a search revealed marijuana paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver, Colin R. Stoots, 19, of Chesapeake Beach, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

POSSESSION OF PSILOCYBIN-PSILOCIN (MUSHROOMS): On February 8, 2009 at 1:35 a.m., Trooper Wyer stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Route 4 at Lower Marlboro Road in Sunderland. A consent search of the vehicle revealed a baggie of "mushrooms" in the vehicle. The driver, a 17 year-old juvenile from Sunderland, was placed under arrest and transported to the Maryland State Police Barrack for processing.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On February 8, 2009 at 8:37 a.m., Trooper Haut responded to the 500 block of Clay Hammond Rd. in Prince Frederick for a reported destruction of property. The complainant reported that the vehicles in his driveway had been damaged, as well as the mailbox. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410)535-1400.

POSSESSION OF CLONAZEPAM WITH NO PRESCRIPTION: On February 11, 2009 at 1:24 a.m. Trooper Wyer stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Route 4 at the Route 2 split in Sunderland. A consent search of the vehicle revealed Clonazepam, a controlled substance for which the driver had no prescription. Scott D. Dean, 39, of Hollywood, placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

ASSAULT: On February 11, 2009 at 8:30 a.m., Trooper First Class Greggs responded to the 6800 block of Broomes Island Road in St. Leonard for a reported assault. An altercation occurred between two men during which one struck the other in the head several times with a golf club. The victim, David Rice, 60, of St. Leonard, was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for treatment of a laceration to his head. James Straiten, 75, of St. Leonard was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

BURGLARY, THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: On February 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., Trooper Donaldson responded to the 4400 block of Solomons Island Road in Huntingtown for a reported stolen vehicle and burglary. Between 10:00 p.m. on the 10th to 10:30 a.m. on the 11th, the victim's garage was broken into. A "Ladden 1000 Pressure Washer" was stolen. The victim's burgundy colored 1991 GMC Jimmy truck was stolen from the driveway. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410)535-1400.
