LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 4, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) today released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
SHOOTING VICTIM UPDATE: The 13 year-old victim of the accidental shooting, which occurred in Hollywood, on January 31 was released from Children's Hospital on February 3. The case is currently under review by the St. Mary's County States Attorney's Office and no charges have been filed.
CHARGES FILED FOR ROBBERY INVOLVEMENT: On February 4 BCI detectives placed additional charges on Charles C. Butler, 34, of Lexington Park, who was arrested on February 2 and is currently incarcerated for a burglary at the Cut Rate Tobacco and Liquor Store in Lexington Park. Detectives charged Butler with Armed Robbery, 2 counts of Robbery, 2 counts of Theft, Assault 1st and 2nd Degree, and Accessory before the Fact. The charges were a result of his alleged involvement in the January 26 robbery of a 33 year-old male, who was in his car in front of the Donut Connection in Lexington Park and the February 1 armed robbery of a cab driver on Card Road in Lexington Park. Butler remains incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center. The investigation continues into both incidents.
