LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 22, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest report.
THREATS OF ARSON: On January 21, 2009 Deputy J. Vezzosi responded to a residence in Hollywood for a threat of arson report. Investigation revealed Allan Michael Joy, 18, of Leonardtown, sent threatening text messages to the victim stating he (Joy) was going to "light" the victim's house up in "flames." The victim told Deputy Vezzosi that Joy was upset with him because Joy believed the victim called the police on him earlier in the day. As Deputy Vezzosi was leaving the victim's residence, he observed Mr. Joy ride up to the victim residence as if he was going to pull into the residence. When Mr. Joy observed Deputy Vezzosi in the victim's driveway, he attempted to drive off. Deputy Vezzosi stopped Mr. Joy and confirmed the telephone number to Mr. Joy's cell phone. It was the same number from which the threatening text messages were sent earlier in the day. Because Mr. Joy sent text messages threatening to light the victim's house up in flames and then drove to the victim's residence a short time later, Deputy Vezzosi arrested Allan Joy and charged him with threats of arson.
