LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 20, 2009)—The St. Mary's Hospital Foundation recently welcomed new members and officers for 2009. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees with elected officers comprised of a cross section of area business, community and medical leadership.

This year's officers include President Bonnie Bowes, Vice President Eileen Bildman, Secretary Perry Rothwell and Treasurer Barry Friedman. The new members include Jennifer Blake, Micheline Lopez-Estrada and Bill Moody.

The St. Mary's Hospital Foundation is a philanthropic arm of St. Mary's Hospital, helping to further enhance the hospital's excellence as a provider of comprehensive health care services, quality medical care and clinical research through philanthropic support of its programs, activities and facilities.

Each year, the Foundation organizes events to generate funds for scholarships to Southern Maryland residents who want to pursue a health care degree. These events have become popular within the Southern Maryland community, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to assist students in reaching their career goals.

This year's scholarship applications are due March 15. Interested students can pick up an application from the hospital's Human Resources Department or download the form via www.smhwecare.com.
