Police Seek Info, Victims of Alleged Extortionist

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (Jan. 16, 2009)—The Maryland State Police continue to request anyone to come forward with information pertaining to a man who reportedly preys on young males, tampers with their food or drink, and engages them in acts of fraud and identity theft.

The accused is identified as Thomas Calvin Eichelberger, 42, of the unit block Greenspring Drive in Annapolis. Eichelberger was arrested and charged on December, 1, 2008, in Baltimore County for “tampering with food and drink” and other criminal offenses. He was released on bond.

His mode of operation has allegedly been that once he befriends his victims, he manipulates their behavior by drugging their food or drink at bars or restaurants. Police believe he is using prescription type drugs to alter his victim’s judgment and coherency. He is known to frequent hotels and bars in the areas of Annapolis City and Hagerstown.

Once his victim becomes vulnerable, it has been reported that Eichelberger takes them to his home or a hotel. He has been known to take compromising photographs of these individuals to then use for harassment and intimidation purposes, say police.

Although he is currently awaiting trial, investigators from the Glen Burnie Barrack continue to receive information that indicates Eichelberger’s criminal behavior may be ongoing. Police are asking anyone who may have been a victim or has pertinent information relating to this case to call the Glen Burnie Barracks at 410-761-5130.
