MSP Reports for Calvert County


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Jan. 14, 2009) - The Prince Frederick Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

POSSESSION OF marijuana: On January 9, 2009 at 8:25 am, Trooper Donaldson stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on northbound Route 4 at Nursery Road. An odor of marijuana was detected and a search revealed marijuana in the vehicle. Justin A. Pope, 19, of Brandywine was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

THEFT: On January 10, 2009 at 10:41 am, Trooper First Class Greggs responded to the 3800 block of 13th Street in Chesapeake Beach for a reported theft. A Maryland registration plate was stolen off a utility trailer parked in the victim's yard. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 535-1400.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: On January 10, 2009 at 12:52 pm, Trooper Donaldson responded to the 1500 block of Ball Road in Port Republic for the reported of an attempted burglary. The victim's garage door latch had been pried off but the suspects were unable to gain entry. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 535-1400.

ASSAULT: On January 10, 2009 at 5:06 pm, Trooper Lewis responded to the Holiday Inn in Solomons for a reported assault. An argument led to a fight between two men. Michael A. Haynie, 53, Aledo, TX, was charged with second degree assault. He was served with a summons at the state police barracks and released.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On January 10, 2009 at 09:27 pm, Trooper First Class Dawson responded to the 7900 block of Solomons Island Road in Sunderland for a reported disorderly subject. Thomas E. Price, 19, of Chesapeake Beach was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

THEFT: On January 12, 2009 at 9:51 am, Trooper First Class Greggs responded to the Safeway in Prince Frederick for a reported theft. Investigation revealed that Nadene M. Buck, 27, of Prince Frederick had removed items without payment. Ms. Buck was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

THEFT: On January 12, 2009 at 11:00 am, Trooper Donaldson investigated the theft of a Maryland registration plate. The theft occurred at a residence in the 3700 block of 8th Street in North Beach. The rear registration plate had been removed from a vehicle parked in the driveway. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Maryland State Police at (410) 535-1400.

ASSAULT/BURGLARY: On January 12, 2009 at 6:50 pm, Trooper Lewis responded to the 300 block of Oak Drive in Lusby for a reported assault. Investigation revealed that a fight had occurred at the residence. During the fight, one suspect, who did not live at the residence, forced his way into the residence to continue the fight. Matthew E. Shifflett, 26, of Prince Frederick, was arrested for assault. Joshua D. Shifflett, 28, of Lusby, was arrested for assault and additionally charged with burglary. Both subjects were transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.
