LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 14, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: On January 13, 2000 Deputy Harris responded to St. Mary's Motor's in Great Mills for a report of a motor vehicle theft. The victim reported Salartash Shahriar, 23, of Alexandria, Virginia had a motor vehicle on the rear lift of a tow truck and was holding the vehicle for "ransom." Further investigation revealed a civil dispute between Mr. Shahriar and the vehicle's owner over a tow bill not being paid. Mr. Shahriar refused to release the victim's vehicle until paid. The victim stated Mr. Shahriar did not have permission to tow the vehicle in question or any other vehicle in St. Mary's Motor's parking lot. Deputy Harris spoke with Mr. Shahriar who acknowledged the dispute of money owed for a tow service. Mr. Shahriar took the vehicle to hold for payment. Mr. Shahriar was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft.
VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER: On September 9, 2008 Paul David Atkinson, 42, of no fixed address, was served with a final protective order ordering him not to have any contact with the petitioner of the order. On January 14, 2009 Atkinson called the petitioner, which is in violation of the order. Atkinson was arrested and charged with violating a protective order.
