LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 25, 2009) - During the weekend of December 12, Global Diplomacy students from Leonardtown High School captured the top Secretary General's Award for Research/Position Paper during the 26th annual Prince William County Model United Nations Conference held at C.D. Hylton High School. Leonardtown beat out students from Thomas Jefferson High School in Northern Virginia (recently named the top high school in the nation by U.S. News and World Report), and students from 70 other high schools.
Leonardtown students Pat Bauk, Megan Switick, Mollie Wagoner, Brent Thorward, and Eddie Sierra were also recognized as Outstanding Delegates in their respective committees.
Over 1,300 students attended the conference, including 32 students from Leonardtown High School.
