LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 09, 2009)—The Charles County Commissioners received a presentation from Clifton Gunderson LLP, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants on Tuesday morning regarding the Charles County Governments financial standing as of June 30, 2009. Clifton Gunderson LLP performs the Countys audit on an annual basis.
The Countys audit for fiscal year 2009 did not include any management comments. This means no formal recommendations for improvement were noted by the auditors. This most recent audit shows the Countys fiscal responsibility as well as its compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Commissioner President, Wayne Cooper commented, I am extremely pleased that the yearly audit had no recommendations by the auditors. The audit was an enormous undertaking by County staff. The audit plays a major role for the Countys offering for bond ratings and ensures an efficient accounting system for checks and balances.
Deborah Hudson, Director of Fiscal and Administrative Services for the Charles County Government is extremely pleased with the outcome and process of the audit. She remarked, The fiscal year 2009 audit was available and presented to the Board of Commissioners one month earlier than in the previous year. This is a testament to the hard work put forth by the Accounting and Fiscal and Administrative Services staff.
