4-Year-Old Hit by Vehicle in Lex. Park; Motorist Flees


LEONARDTOWN. Md. (Dec. 1, 2009)—On December 1 at approximately 1:24 p.m. Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a hit and run accident on Brighton Avenue in Lexington Park. Preliminary investigation reveals a 4-year-old male was struck by a vehicle on Brighton Avenue. The operator of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident.

The 4 year old was flown by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 to Children's Hospital.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, operating a burgundy vehicle. Emergency Communication Divisions dispatched a lookout for the suspect vehicle.

Sgt. Eric Walker is the investigating Deputy. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has further information is asked to contact the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office at 301-475-4040.
