LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov. 23, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) recently released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.
ARMED ROBBERY ARRESTS: On October 21, a pizza delivery person was delivering a pizza to an address on Knockeyon Lane in Great Mills when he was approached by three male subjects—one was armed with a handgun—who demanded money from the victim. The victim complied and was uninjured during the incident. Detective's conducted an investigation into the armed robbery resulting in the arrest of Demetrius A. Williams, age 21, of Great Mills, and Ricardo A. McCaskill, age 20, also of Great Mills. Williams was charged with Armed Robbery and Robbery. McCaskill was charged with Armed Robbery, Robbery, and Use of a Handgun during the Commission of a Felony / Violent Crime. Both were incarcerated in the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner. An additional arrest is pending in this case.
GRAND JURY INDICTMENTS: As the investigation into Daniel Jason Brown, age 31 of Leonardtown, continues, there are sixty-eight additional counts that were handed down by the Grand Jury for St. Mary's County. Four separate warrants were issued related to various investigations. The charges range from illegal transfer of a regulated firearm, false and forged land deeds and felony theft scheme. Suspect Brown is currently being held on $50,000.00 cash bond and will have a bond hearing later next week on the new charges. Additional charges and arrests are pending. NEW ARREST IN ARMED ROBBERY: On Nov. 19, detectives from BCI made an additional arrest in the armed robbery of Scott Bush on 9/26/09 in Lexington Park. Detectives arrested William Edward Johnson 3rd, of Lexington Park. He was charged with Armed Robbery, Felony Assault, and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
