Three Vehicle Accidents in Calvert


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Nov. 23, 2009) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following vehicle accident reports.

TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN PRINCE FREDERICK: On November 20 at 9:03 a.m. a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Katie Ann Windsor, 29 of Prince Frederick, was traveling northbound on Adelina Road in Prince Frederick when her vehicle crossed the double yellow center lines and struck another car head on. The second car, a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, was being driven by Gaye S. Thoma, 56 also of Prince Frederick. The Ford then continued across the front yard of a home on Adelina Road, damaging the yard and a flower planter, coming to rest next to the front porch. The Volkswagen spun 180 degrees and came to rest partially in the road. Both drivers were transported by the Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad to Calvert Memorial Hospital. FATAL VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN CHESAPEAKE BEACH: On November 20 at 11:52 in the morning Dep. Vaughn Evans responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash. Alfred Carlton Greene, 89 of Chesapeake Beach, operating a 1988 Dodge Lancer, had been traveling eastbound on Summer City Blvd. in Chesapeake Beach making a left turn onto northbound Willows Road (Md. Rt. 261/Bayside Road) when he failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle. The second vehicle, a 2000 Toyota Tacoma, traveling southbound on Willows Road, was being driven by Shawn Harrison Reinhardt, 36 of Chesapeake Beach. The Toyota struck the Dodge on the drivers' side door. Both drivers were transported to Prince George's Hospital Center Trauma Unit by MSP Trooper 2 where Mr. Greene succumbed to his injuries. A passenger in the Dodge, James Jerome Greene, 55 of Chesapeake Beach, was transported via ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital. VEHICLE STRIKES HOUSE IN SOLOMONS: On November 22 at 12:45 a.m. a 1994 Oldsmobile, driven by Joshua Paul Blankenship, 22 of Solomons, left the roadway at the corner of Sedwick Avenue and Langley Lane in Solomons and struck a house. Mr. Blankenship was transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital with incapacitating injuries. The crash is being investigated by the Crash Reconstruction Team.
