MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov 9, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 12:11 am, Tpr. G. A. Thompson initiated a traffic stop on Three Notch Road at Braxton Road in Mechanicsville on a silver Hyundai for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with the occupants in the vehicle, an odor of burnt Marijuana was detected. A 17 year old male juvenile was arrested for possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. He was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing and later released to his mother pending further action by Juvenile Services.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 12:49 am, Sean Demetrius Yates, 36, of Hollywood was arrested by Tpr. G. A. Thompson for possession of Marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Yates was operating a black Plymouth Breeze on south bound Three Notch Road when he was stopped at Old Rolling Road in California for failing to stop at a stop sign. Upon contact with Mr. Yates, an odor of Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. He initially provided a false name to avoid arrest on two outstanding warrants through the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department and the Prince Georges County Police Department. Mr. Yates was found to be in possession of two baggies of Marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:03 pm, Tpr. G. A. Thompson responded to the 21000 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for the reported Malicious Destruction of Property to a Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 24, of Lexington Park who advised unknown suspect(s) broke the driver's side mirror from her gray Mitsubishi Gallant which was parked in front of the residence. The investigation continues.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: On Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 6:10 pm, Tpr. J. S. Gibson responded to Maryland International Raceway off Budds Creek Road in Mechanicsville for the reported Theft from Motor Vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 18, of Culpepper, VA who advised unknown suspect(s) had broken the driver's side window to her red 2000 Honda Civic SI and stole a Sony CD Player valued at $400.00, silver Sony Cyber Shot digital camera valued at $400.00 and a Coach wallet containing numerous cards and identification valued at $200.00. Total loss is estimated at $1,100.00 including the damage to the vehicle. The investigation continues.
