LA PLATA, Md. (Oct. 8, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
JUVENILE CHARGED WITH STEALING CAR: On Oct. 7 at 1:41 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's Officer D. Major initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 301 and Pierce Road in Waldorf after observing a traffic violation. A computer check revealed the vehicle, a Honda minivan, was stolen. The driver, a 17-year-old male from Upper Marlboro, was arrested and charged with theft.
ROBBERY (WEAPON IMPLIED): On Oct. 4 at 12:23 a.m., an unknown suspect entered 7-Eleven at 2170 Crain Highway in Waldorf and asked for two cartons of cigarettes. When the employee retrieved the cigarettes, the suspect threatened the clerk, grabbed the cartons and fled. Officer L. Blake is investigating.
CAR CRASHES INTO BUILDING: On Oct. 3 at 11:10 a.m., the operator of a 2001 Lincoln MKX was parking her car in a handicapped parking spot in front of the Shell gas station at 4705 Crain Highway in White Plains when her foot slipped off the brake causing the car to crash through the store front and into some shelves. No one was injured. Officer W. Saunders is investigating.
SECOND-DEGREE BURGLARY: On Oct. 2 at 11:30 p.m., officers responded to Waldorf RC & Hobbies at 12325 Washington Square in Waldorf for the report of an intrusion alarm. Upon arrival, officers observed a garage door had been pried open from the outside. The owner of the store responded and after the building was searched, advised officers a safe had been stolen. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Officer M. Mellott is investigating.
RECOVERED STOLEN AUTO: On Oct. 2 at 9:06 p.m., officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot at St. Charles Town Center. A computer check revealed the car had been reported stolen in Calvert County. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled. The driver struck a vehicle on Crain Highway near Route 5 and continued North where he rammed a police cruiser. The driver continued a short distance until officers performed a PIT maneuver, disabling the car. The driver and passenger jumped out of the car and attempted to flee but were apprehended a short distance away. The suspects, Demetri D. Farrell, 21 and Alan Terrell Rhodes, 21, both of Upper Marlboro, were charged with 17 counts of traffic violations, theft, first-degree assault and destruction of property. Officer P. SEXUAL ASSAULT: On Oct 1 at 5 p.m., officers received a report of a sexual assault which occurred the night before in the 3100 block of Old Washington Road in Waldorf. An initial investigation revealed on Sept. 30 at 11:45 p.m., the victim had just entered her car - which had been parked in a parking lot - when the suspect approached, forced her into her vehicle and sexually assaulted her. The victim managed to push the suspect off and he fled. The victim contacted the Sheriff's Office later that day. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Detective K.
