St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Oct. 2, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

CDS VIOLATION, TRESPASSING: On October 1 at 11:46 p.m. deputies responded to Hula's Bar in California for the report of an intoxicated subject refusing to leave the establishment. Upon deputies arrival, contact was made with Charles A. Bowman, Jr., age 47 of Hollywood, who was instructed to leave the establishment. Bowman continued to refuse to leave and was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest was conducted and Bowman was found in possession of Marijuana laced with PCP, Cocaine, and CDS Paraphernalia. Bowman was charged with Possession of Marijuana, 2 counts of CDS Possession - Not Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Trespassing and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT OVER $1000: On October 1 at 9:02 p.m. Cpl. E. Johnson initiated a vehicle stop on a vehicle towing a trailer with no registration displayed in Clements. A subsequent check of the trailer vehicle identification number revealed the trailer had been stolen in North Carolina. The operator of the vehicle, Brice L. Smith, age 31 of Conway, South Carolina was placed under arrest, charged with Theft over $1,000 and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On September 30, deputies responded to a residence on Baringer Drive in California for a report of a domestic. Investigation revealed Gary Elwood Joy 2nd, 27 of California, was in a verbal dispute, which escalated into a physical assault when he grabbed the victims by the arm and threw her on the bed. Joy then retrieved a shotgun, racked a round in the chamber in a threatening manner towards the victim. Joy then exited the residence with the shotgun. The victim locked the front door of the residence in an attempt to keep Joy out. Joy kicked in the front door, causing damage. Joy was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and destruction of property.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On September 30, deputies responded to a residence on Point Lookout Road in St. Inigoes for a report of a domestic assault. Investigation reveals Connie Sue Jameson, 46 of St. Inigoes, was involved in a verbal dispute, which escalated into a physical assault when Jameson grabbed the victim by the wrist causing injury. Jameson was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.
