Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Sept. 24, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Sept. 24 between 3:30 a.m. - to 3:45 a.m., unknown suspects climbed the roof of Dr. Gustavus Brown Elementary School located at 421 University Drive in Waldorf and damaged six industrial air conditioning units, four cast iron drains, an air vent cover, a weather station, and 12 roof walking mats. Officer P. Alverez is investigating.

MAN CHARGED WITH STOLEN MOTORCYCLE: On Sept. 23 at 8:52 p.m., officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a motorcycle near Route 228 and Route 229 in Waldorf. The drover refused to stop and fled to a nearby neighborhood where he jumped from the bike and fled. Officer J. Morales pursued the driver, Samuel Gabriel Poole, 32, of Waldorf, and apprehended him after a brief foot chase. A computer check revealed the motorcycle had been reported stolen from Laurel, Maryland. Poole was charged with traffic violations and theft.

WOMAN CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE: On Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Crain Highway in White Plains for the report of an assault in progress. Investigation revealed the suspect, a 24-year-old Waldorf woman, struck her 5-year-old daughter in the face, causing her daughter's nose to bleed. When a witness tried to intervene, the suspect spit on him and punched him. The suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree child abuse and two counts of assault. Her name is not being released to protect the identity of her daughter. Officer D. Behm is investigating.

MAN CHARGED WITH DISORDERLY CONDUCT AND RESISTING ARREST: On Sept. 22 at 11:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to Keepsake Place in Waldorf for a domestic dispute. The suspect, Antwan Demarkus Lyles, 29, of Waldorf, was outside the residence, yelling and causing a disturbance. Lyles refused to leave and was subsequently arrested after a brief struggle. Lyles was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Officer B. Moore made the arrest.

WOMAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING WOMAN: On Sept 22 at 6:10 p.m., officers responded to Jameson Court in Indian Head, for an assault. Investigation revealed the suspect, Shanae Nicole Matthews, 23, of Indian Head, went to the victim's house, entered without permission and assaulted a 45-year-old woman. Matthews was arrested on the scene and charged with third-degree burglary and assault. Officer M. Bourgeois made the arrest.
