MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 21, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, September 14 at 4:04 pm, Gregory Darnelle Starks Jr., 23, of Lusby was arrested by Tpr. M. J. Pitcher for Possession of Marijuana. Mr. Starks was operating a bronze Mercury Mountaineer on Three Notch Road when he was stopped at New Market Turner Road in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine MVA check revealed Mr. Starks’ driving privileges were suspended. Mr. Starks was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Mr. Starks was found to be in possession of a plastic baggie of Marijuana. Mr. Starks was processed accordingly and held at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $500: On Monday, September 14 at 7:02 pm, TFC J. A. Pilkerton responded to the Food Lion store located at 20995 Point Lookout Road in Callaway for a Shoplifting complainant. Upon arrival, TFC Pilkerton observed a black female wearing a blue “T” shirt at the residence next to Food Lion. TFC Pilkerton made contact with the female employee at the Food Lion who provided TFC Pilkerton with a description of the suspect which matched that of the female TFC Pilkerton observed at the residence next to Food Lion. TFC Pilkerton responded to the residence and observed the suspect, Doris Elizabeth Thomas, 45, Lexington Park hiding in the bushes. She was charged with Theft under $500.00 worth of groceries. She was escorted back to the Food Lion and was positively identified and the groceries were returned. Ms. Thomas was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, September 15 at 10:47 am, Jorita Lichelle Herbert, 29, of Hollywood was arrested by TFC K. M. Rossignol on a Grand Jury Indictment (T3-14111) issued by the Circuit Court in Leonardtown on September 11, 2009. The original charge was Theft Scheme over $500.00. Ms. Herbert turned herself in and was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

MAN WITH A GUN: On Tuesday, September 15 at 3:30 pm, TFC J. R. Stern responded to the 46000 block of Rogers Drive in Lexington Park for the report of a Man with a Gun. Upon arrival, contact was made with several individuals who identified the suspect as Herbert Vernard Saunders, 27, of Chesapeake, VA. Officers later located Mr. Saunders at a residence in the 21000 block of Castaway Circle in Callaway. A Taurus .38 caliber revolver was also recovered in the residence. Mr. Saunders was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. Mr. Saunders was charged with 2nd Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, September 18 at 11:30 pm, Deandre Terille Taylor, 20, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. M. J. Pitcher on an Arrest Warrant (T3-14110) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on September 13, 2009. The original charges were Fleeing Police Officer on foot and Obstructing and Hindering an Investigation. Mr. Taylor was taken into custody on Liberty Street in Lexington Park during an unrelated investigation. Mr. Taylor was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Saturday, September 19 at 3:20 am, Luricko Antonio Clyburn, 28, of Great Mills was arrested by TFC E. M. Evans on an Arrest Warrant (T3-14099) issued by the District Court in Calvert County on August 26, 2009. The original charges were Assault 2nd Degree, Dangerous Weapon with intent to Injure and Alcoholic Beverage Intoxication Endangerment. Mr. Clyburn was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT OVER $500: On Saturday, September 19 at 7:25 pm, Tpr. G. A. Thompson responded to the 46000 block of Morning Dew Lane in Lexington Park for the reported Theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 38, of Lexington Park. He advised he owned an AR-15 carbine, .223 caliber gun. He went to retrieve the gun from his bedroom and the weapon was missing. He further advised he last saw the gun a week ago. The gun is valued at $2,000.00 and has been entered into NCIC. The investigation continues.
