St. Mary's County BCI Narcotics Arrests


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 12, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division recently released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Mary’s County.

MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION: Detectives, assisted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, executed a search and seizure warrant on a Mechanicsville home. Detectives discovered five mature marijuana plants, marijuana grow equipment, and smoking devices. Suspect Francis Allen Tennyson, age 46, was arrested and charged with Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession with intent to Distribute Marijuana and other related crimes. Suspect Tennyson's case will be reviewed by State's Attorney Richard D. Fritz and additional charges are pending.

ILLEGAL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS: A search warrant was executed on the home of Matthew Paul Derry, age 22, of Lexington Park. Suspect Derry was the target of the investigation that has been ongoing for sometime. Suspect Derry was found to be in possession of prescription medication and related paraphernalia. Additional charges are expected.
