LA PLATA, Md. (Sept. 10, 2009) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

LAWYER CHARGED WITH THEFT OVER $500: On Sept. 9, Charles County Sheriff's detectives assigned to the Financial Crimes Unit arrested Frank P. Jenkins, 44, of La Plata, in connection with the theft of a large amount of money from an estate settlement he was appointed to handle earlier this year. Jenkins was charged with one count of theft over $500 and released on his own recognizance. Investigators are in the process of reviewing other financial records associated with Jenkins and exploring the possibility he might have taken money from several other clients. Detective E. Clark is investigating.

HOUSE FIRE/DEATH INVESTIGATION: On Sept. 9 at 9:31 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers and Charles County firefighters responded to 2179 Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road for a reported house fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene and discovered a single family, one story house with heavy fire in the front living room area. While inside the house, firefighters discovered the body of a deceased person. The deceased was severely burned and was unable to be identified. A joint investigation is being conducted between the Fire Marshal's office and the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division. The deceased was transported to Baltimore for an autopsy and the investigation will continue.
