LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Aug. 24, 2009)—The St. Mary's County Board of Education at its meeting of August 5 appointed Ms. Angela Funya to the position of educational director at the Chesapeake Public Charter School (CPCS) where she has served as the acting educational director for the past year. Ms. Funya is credited as being a founding member and curriculum developer of the CPCS.
Prior to taking the helm at CPCS, Funya served as a program director with the Chesapeake Bay Field Lab, exposing students to life on the bay. Her experience also includes serving as a math and science teacher at the Little Flower School in Great Mills, and serving as a preschool teacher at Temple Children's Center and Neil Armstrong Elementary in Pittsburgh, PA. Ms. Funya earned a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College and a Bachelor's degree in anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh.
