PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Aug. 17, 2009) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.
CDS VIOLATION: Five subjects were observed hanging out at Seahorse Beach in Lusby on August 12 at 1:43 a.m. by Cpl. Vladimir Bortchevsky who approached the group. He determined that two of the individuals were under the influence of alcohol. He cited Stephanie Brooke Pulsinelli, 20 of Lusby with possession of an alcoholic beverage by a person under the age of 21. A sixteen-year-old female from Chesapeake Beach was also cited for possession of an alcohol beverage by a person under the age of 21. Cpl. Bortchevsky also charged Larry Andre Rice, Jr., 24 of Lusby, with possession of cocaine in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute same and possession of cocaine.
THEFT: A utility truck owned by Cotton Septic Service that was parked on Norfolk Drive in Owings was broken into between 5:00 p.m. August 12 and 6:49 a.m. August 13. The suspect(s) stole more than $3000 in various tools to include Craftsman Sawzalls, Milwaukee drills, and Craftsman socket and wrench sets. Anyone with information can contact Cpl. BURGLARY: A Suzuki Ozark All Terrain Vehicle valued at $3000, and more than $1800 in tools (2 Stihl chainsaws, a Rigid 3300 PSI pressure washer, an Echo chainsaw, a DeWalt impact wrench and a toolbox with various tools) were stolen from Windmill Farms on E. Chesapeake Beach Road in Owings. DFC Paul Wood responded to Windmill Farms on August 13 and spoke with the owner. The business was burglarized between August 10 and 12. CDS VIOLATION: On August 12 at 8:00 a.m. while parked in a public parking lot near the Bridge Carry Out on Md. Rt. 231 near the Benedict Bridge in Prince Frederick, Dep. Thomas Rickard was contacted by a subject who pulled up in a vehicle next to him. The subject asked Dep. Rickard several questions, at which time Dep. Rickard observed the subject to appear to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. After consent to search was obtained, Rickard discovered suspected drugs on the individual. He subsequently arrested Patrick A. Portzen, Jr., 26 of Waldorf, and charged him with false statement to a peace office concerning identity, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia (a glass pipe, a razor blade, a piece of glass), possession of cocaine in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, interfering with a lawful arrest, and three counts of theft.
DOP: Unknown suspect(s) sprayed a fire extinguisher inside the cabin of a boat at the Solomons Cove Marina between 8:45 a.m. and 10:20 p.m. on August 13. The victim advises there is approximately $500 in damage. DFC Carl Fischer will investigate.
DOP: Dep. James Morgan responded to the Holiday Inn located in Solomons on August 14 for the report of destruction of property. Numerous vehicles that were parked in the parking lot of the hotel had tires slashed, two vehicles had been entered and further damage was done to the insides of the cars. The total amount in damage is estimated at $3650. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Morgan at 410-535-2800.
CDS VIOLATION: On August 14 at 4:05 p.m. on Rousby Hall Road in Lusby in the area of CJ's Store after conducting a traffic stop, Dep. James Morgan found the driver, later identified as Bonnie Turner Gibson, 42 of Lusby, to be in possession of suspected drugs. She was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.
CDS VIOLATION: DFC Aaron Locke and DFC Mark Fitzgerald reported to the Comfort Inn Hotel on Lore Road in Solomons for the report of a cds violation on August 15 at 2:43 a.m. Both deputies detected the odor of burnt marijuana to be coming from a room on the first floor of the hotel. After making entry to the room, four suspects were found to be inside. One of them, later identified as Brandon Demetrice Greenfield, 25 of Clinton, was found to have suspected marijuana. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
CDS VIOLATION: While investigating a call to a home on Ropeknot Road in Lusby on August 15 at 9:24 p.m. DFC Mark Fitzgerald observed numerous small plastic baggies containing suspected heroin. One person in the home at the time, Clark Edward Lutz, Jr., 27 of St. Leonard, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute and possession of heroin. Two other people located in the house have charges pending.
CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Jason Dean conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot of the Long Beach Community's basketball court on August 15 at 11:30 p.m. The driver was found to have suspected drugs and paraphernalia. Dean arrested Cody Allen Bowen, 20 of St. Leonard, and charged him with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a White Owl cigar blunt.
DUI CHECKPOINTS AUG 6-SEP 7: Calvert County deputies will be out in full force conducting sobriety checkpoints August 16 through September 7 at various locations throughout the county. The Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign is designed to get impaired drivers off the roads using patrols and checkpoints in areas where drunk driving is most likely to occur and to educate the public about the dangers of drunk driving. The campaign was initiated by the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association and the Maryland Department of Transportation.
