St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Aug. 17, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

RAPE: On August 16, BCI detectives investigating the rape of a 19-year-old female, which occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m., arrested Jeremiah D. Hobbs, age 21, of Lexington Park. Detectives determined that the victim was at Hobbs' residence with friends consuming alcohol. When she fell asleep, the suspect began to have sexual intercourse with her. The victim awoke and fled from the residence to summons help. Hobbs was charged with 2nd Degree Rape and 2nd Degree Assault. He was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

FIRST DEGREE BURGLARY: On July 29 at 7:45 p.m. Dfc. J. Kirkner responded to a residence in Lexington Park for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed the female victim and Deshawn A. Carey, age 20, of Lexington Park, was involved in a verbal altercation in a motor vehicle in Mechanicsville. The victim returned to her residence. Carey arrived at the residence and forced his way into the residence through a rear door and began assaulting the victim by grabbing her around the neck and choking her. Carey was arrested, charged with First Degree Burglary, 2 counts of Assault and incarcerated in the detention center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: On July 29 at 7:29 p.m. deputies responded to the area of St. Andrews Church Road in California for the report of subjects throwing rocks at passing motor vehicle's. Deputies arriving on the scene located two male juveniles, ages 14 and 15, of California, and placed both under arrest. It was determined three vehicles had been damaged as a result of the subjects throwing rocks as the vehicles passed by. Both juveniles were charged with 3 counts of Malicious Destruction of Property under $500, 3 counts of Throwing Objects at Motor Vehicle and Malicious Destruction of Property Scheme Valued at more than $500. Both juveniles were released to parental custody pending further action by Juvenile Services.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: On August 16 at 12:36 a.m., deputies responded to the Brass Rail in Callaway for the disorderly and intoxicated subject refusing to leave the premises. Upon arrival deputies observed Kevin L. Mackall, age 22, of Lexington Park, in the parking lot yelling profanities and intoxicated. Mackall was told several times to leave the property and refused. Mackall was placed under arrest after a short struggle, charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

BURGLARY: On August 16 at 11:46 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in Lexington Park for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed Amy R. Fitzgerald, age 37, of Lexington Park kicked open the front door to the victims residence, made entry and assaulted the victim by striking her in the face with her fist. Fitzgerald was arrested on the scene and charged with Burglary, Assault Second Degree and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
