LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Aug. 10, 2009) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, July 28 at 5:30 pm, Shawn Lorenzo Hicklin, 27, of Great Mills was arrested by Tpr. E. J. Page on two Grand Jury Indictments (T3-14059 and T3-14060) issued by the Circuit Court in Leonardtown on July 24. The original charges on the Indictments were Possession of CDS - not Marijuana. Mr. Hicklin was taken into custody at his residence in Great Mills and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, July 30 at 8:10 am, Brandon Christopher Getz, 22, of Glen Burnie was arrested on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-14055) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Anne Arundel County on July 10. The original charge on the Bench Warrant was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Getz turned himself in at the Leonardtown Barrack and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, July 31 at 2:23 pm, Sherry Ann Baker, 55, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC D. S. Brill on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-14052) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on July 24. The original charge was Theft under $100.00. Ms. Baker was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: On Sunday, August 2 at 2:30 pm, TFC D. S. Brill responded to the 46000 block of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park for the reported theft from motor vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 24, of Lexington Park who advised during the night unknown suspect(s) broke into the victim's blue 2004 Ford Explorer stealing a prescription medication, $960.00 in currency and a GPS system valued at $100.00. Neighborhood checks were conducted with negative results and the investigation continues.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Monday, August 3 at 8:30 pm, John Wayne Smith, 22, of Valley Lee was arrested by Tpr. W. S. Jefferson on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-14024) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on July 10. The original charge was Driving on a Suspended License. Mr. Smith was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: On Sunday, August 2 at 4:08 pm, TFC M. A. Moore responded to the 21000 block of St. Lo Place in Lexington Park for the reported theft from motor vehicle. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainant, 33, of Lexington Park. He advised unknown suspect(s) broke into his silver 1998 Nissan 200SX and stole a Microsoft Zune music and video player valued at $350.00. The Microsoft Zune was entered into the NCIC files as stolen and neighborhood checks were conducted with negative results. The investigation continues.
ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Sunday, August 2 at 11:04 pm, David Andrew Spears, Jr., 21, of Leonardtown was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. TFC J. A. Pilkerton responded to a 911 broadcast for the reported fight in progress in the 41000 block of Satchel Paige Way in Hollywood. Upon arrival, TFC Pilkerton observed 10-15 people arguing in the street. As other police officers arrived the crowd began to disperse. Mr. Spears continued to yell and scream obscenities at other people in the neighborhood. After several attempts to calm him down, Mr. Spears was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, August 4 at 1:00 am, David Eric Strain, 22, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC J. G. Fleetwood on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-14050) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Leonardtown on July 23. The original charge on the warrant was Driving without a License. Mr. Strain was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
BURGLARY, MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY OVER $500: On Wednesday, August 5 at 10:30 am, Tpr. B. Wiesemann responded to the 46000 block of Columbus Drive in Lexington Park for the reported Malicious Destruction of Property. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 24, of Lexington Park. Unknown suspect(s) had ripped the convertible top on her tan 2002 Chrysler Sebring and there were several dents in the passenger door. Neighborhood checks were conducted with negative results. The investigation continues.
WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, August 5 at 11:05 am, Christopher Michael Sherman, 20, of California was arrested by Tpr. N. E. Gresko on an Arrest Warrant (T3-14067) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on August 5. The original charge on the warrant is Assault 2nd Degree. Mr. Sherman was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, August 5 at 3:30 pm, Mark Yount Bottorf, 51, of Hollywood was arrested by Cpl. J. L. Linger for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Cpl. Linger initiated the traffic stop on Three Notch Road at Friendship School Road in Mechanicsville on a green Ford F-150 for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with Mr. Bottorf, a moderate odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Bottorf was found to be in possession of numerous baggies of Marijuana seeds and Marijuana stems. A metal CDS smoking device was also found in the vehicle. Mr. Bottorf was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Wednesday August 5 at 5:39 pm, Tpr. G. A. Thompson responded to the 26000 block of Yowaiski Mill Road in Mechanicsville for the reported destruction of two mailboxes. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male complainants, both 45 of Mechanicsville. They advised unknown suspect(s) smashed in the top of their mailboxes and the wooden posts were broken in half. Estimated total value to replace the mailboxes and the wooden posts is $160.00. Neighborhood checks were conducted with negative results. The investigation continues.
CONCEALED DEADLY WEAPON ARREST: On Thursday, August 6 at 7:15 pm, a 911 broadcast was made in reference to the reported reckless operation of a silver Mazda Protégé traveling south bound Three Notch Road from Point Lookout Road in Mechanicsville. TFC R. B. Rezza initiated a traffic stop on the silver Mazda Protégé on south bound Three Notch Road at Joy Lane in Hollywood. As TFC Rezza was stopping the vehicle he observed the registration plates expired on May 31. Upon contact with the operator, Jason Patrick Stant, 34, of Callaway, TFC Rezza observed a "dirk" style scuba knife on Mr. Stant's person. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
THEFT UNDER $500: On Friday, August 7 at 5:42 pm, Tpr. G. A. Thompson responded to the 22000 block of Laurel Glen Road in California for the reported Theft under $500.00. Upon arrival, contact was made with the female complainant, 18, of California. She advised an unknown suspect(s) stole her black Nokia Roamer 2 cellular telephone, serial # 268435458401830800. The cell phone is valued at $150.00 and the investigation continues.
DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, August 9 at 12:39 am, Timothy Wayne Carpenter, 18, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. J. S. Gibson for Possession of Marijuana. Mr. Carpenter was a passenger in a gray Volkswagen Golf on Golden Beach Road when it was stopped at Laurel Ridge Road in Mechanicsville for exceeding the posted speed limit. Upon contact with the driver and Mr. Carpenter, a passenger in the vehicle, an odor of burnt Marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Mr. Carpenter was found to be in possession 12 plastic baggies of Marijuana, a multi-colored glass CDS smoking device with Marijuana, a digital scale, Marijuana grinder and a wallet containing $595.00. Mr. Carpenter was also in possession of three counterfeit $10.00 bills, each containing the same serial numbers. Mr. Carpenter was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
