COLUMBUS, Ohio (Aug. 6, 2009)—James Wahlrab, United States Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio, announced July 31 that Bobbie Lee Garrett has been arrested.
On February 2, 2009 a warrant was issued for Garrett following the return of a 15 count indictment for Child Abuse-Sexual Abuse of a Minor.
Through an investigation conducted by the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), the United States Marshals Service in Cleveland, Ohio, along with the Capital Area Task Force and the Charles County Sheriffs Office in Maryland information was developed that Garrett would be arriving on a flight at the Columbus International Airport in Columbus, Ohio on July 31, 2009. Garrett was arrested without incident as he exited the plane.
Garrett was transported to the Franklin County Jail where he will be held pending an extradition hearing for his return to Charles County Maryland to face the alleged charges.
SOFAST is a multi-agency fugitive apprehension team comprised of the following law enforcement agencies in the Columbus area: U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Attorneys Office, Franklin County Sheriffs Office, Delaware County Sheriffs Office, City of Columbus Division of Police, Worthington Police Department, Grove City Police Department, Reynoldsburg Police Department, Lancaster Police Department, City of Columbus Division of Fire, State of Ohio Adult Parole Authority, State of Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the South Bloomfield Police Department.
