Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Aug. 3, 2009) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: A victim on Angelica Drive in Huntingtown reported to DFC Christopher Childress that unknown suspect(s) had burglarized his garage, stealing a DeWalt Skilsaw with case valued at $200 and a DeWalt 3/8" drill with case, valued at $130. The burglary occurred between July 29 and 31. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Steve Jones of the CIT at 410-535-2800.

THEFT: Unknown suspect(s) entered two unlocked vehicles outside a victim's home on Dairy Barn Drive in Huntingtown overnight between July 29 and 30th. Two Ipods, two FM transmitters and one pair of Nike sunglasses, total value $900, were stolen. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. Frank Winston at 410-535-2800.

THEFT: On July 30 at 6:13 p.m., a witness advised Dep. Justin Livingston that they had just observed a suspect steal items from the Advance Auto store in Prince Frederick, leave the store and travel to the Prince Frederick Walmart, where the witness had followed. Dep. Livingston made contact with the suspect. After a search incident to arrest, the suspect, later identified as Christopher Gerard Schmitz, 20 of Owings, was found to be in possession of halogen lights and window tint, valued at $42, and suspected drugs. Schmitz was arrested and charged with theft, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, Oxycontin, and hindering a police officer in the performance of lawful duties.

THEFT: Dep. Jason Dean reported to a home on Picture Drive in St. Leonard for the report of a theft of yard statues. A blue heron statue and a cat statue, together valued at $70 were stolen from the homeowner's yard between July 31st and August 1st.

ASSAULT: DFC Robert Burggraff responded to the Beach Cove Bar and Grill on Md. Rt. 261 in Chesapeake Beach on August 1 at 11:42 p.m. An employee of the establishment advised that a customer had started a fight with him, punching him in the eye. The customer then left but returned with a wooden stake, swinging at the employee. Several patrons then pulled the suspect to the ground, holding him there until DFC Burggraff arrived. He arrested Wayne Edward Berkley, 47 of North Beach and charged him with 2nd degree assault and disorderly conduct.

DISORDERLY INTOXICATION: Cpl. Anthony Moschetto responded to the area of Md. Rt. 260 and Jewell Road in Dunkirk on August 2 at 12:22 a.m. for the report of a person in the roadway. Upon arriving he observed Cleveland Howard Sumler, 49 of no fixed address, staggering in the roadway. Sumler had poor balance, red, glassy eyes and slurred speech. He was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication.

CDS VIOLATION: After conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on Md. Rt. 765 near Parkers Creek Road in St. Leonard on August 2 at 2:24 a.m., Cpl. Anthony Moschetto arrested the driver, Jamal Morris Stills, 22 of Lusby, and charged him with possession of marijuana. A passenger in the vehicle, Adrian Tyler Stills, 24 of Lusby, was also charged with possession of marijuana.

WANTED MAN: The sheriff's office is seeking information on the whereabouts of Joshua Hugh Donehoo, white male, DOB: June 28, 1979, last known address Dunkirk. Subject is wanted on two outstanding warrants related to drug and harassment charges.
