ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. (July 20, 2009) — Leonardtown resident, Jennifer Tickle, was recently reappointed with tenure and a promotion at St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM). Tickle, who teaches in the department of psychology, has been at St. Mary’s since 2003. She earned her Ph.D. in psychological and brain sciences from Dartmouth College. Her specialty is social psychology and her research interests are media influence on attitudes and behavior; self-control; and interaction dynamics.

“Earning tenure is one of the major milestones in the life of an academic,” said Tickle. “It is an honor for me to join the ranks of the exceptional tenured faculty at St. Mary’s College.”

To be considered for tenure, a faculty member must demonstrate exemplary teaching, scholarship, and service to the campus community. In return, tenure represents a commitment to the faculty member by the college or university to continue to support their teaching and research.
