St. Mary's County BCI Police Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 13, 2009) - The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) recently released the following incident and arrest reports.

SURRENDER IN HOME INVASION: Nicholas Walter Bond, age 20, with no fixed address, turned himself in to BCI detectives on July 6. He was the third person charged with Armed Robbery, Burglary, Theft and Assault for the July 5 home invasion on Point Lookout Road in Ridge.

SHOTS FIRED: On July 11 at approximately 2:15 a.m., patrol units with the Maryland State Police and sheriff's office responded to the area of Fox Chase Apartments in Great Mills for a report of shots being fired. A vehicle description was obtained and a short time later, a vehicle matching the description was located on Belvoir Road. Sheriff's Office patrol units stopped the vehicle occupied by the following:

-- Zachary Anthony Faxon, 20, from Lexington Park;

-- Jerell Darnel Owens, 22, from Callaway;

-- Elvis Tyrell Frederick, 23, from Loveville;

-- Jerry Jerome Estep, 19, from Great Mills; and

-- Derrick Jermain Day, 24, from Leonardtown.

A handgun was located in the car. BCI detectives charged all five men with Transporting a Handgun in a Vehicle. In addition, Jerell Owens was found in possession of brass knuckles and charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon. They were incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.
